Powered by Hustle

A Minecraft server that uses every core.

Paper, Folia and Leaf are all built on Mojang's server code. Hustle was written from scratch, so players, mobs, packets and world generation all run at the same time on different cores. Gameplay stays vanilla, and your Paper plugins still work.

Most players at full speed

Fighting players each server kept at a steady 20 TPS on the same 6-core machine.

Hustle
5,000+

Hustle held 8× more players than the best fork we tested, and it still had capacity left. The network card was the limit.

Game speed with 700 players

100% is full speed. Below that, the whole game runs in slow motion: movement, combat, farms and redstone.

Hustle

100%full speed

30× faster in the same fight. Hustle used just 5% of its time per tick; Leaf needed more than it had.

What do TPS, MSPT and "full speed" mean?
TPS: game speed

Minecraft updates the world 20 times a second. 20 TPS is full speed. At 13 TPS, everything moves at about two-thirds speed.

MSPT: work per update

How long each update takes. It has to stay under 50 ms to keep 20 TPS, so for MSPT, lower is better.

Spare capacity

How much of those 50 ms is left over: room for more players, mobs and redstone before any lag.

Folia isn't on these charts: it splits the world into regions, and one big fight is a single region, so in our one-arena test it ran on one thread. Full stats and methodology →

Your Paper plugins come with you

7 of the 8 popular plugins we tested run on Hustle's compatibility layer. All 7 together add under 1 ms per tick.

  • LuckPerms
  • WorldGuard
  • FastAsyncWorldEdit
  • Multiverse-Core
  • Chunky
  • spark
  • Simple Voice Chat

Our own tests: scripted bot players on one Intel i7-8700 (6 cores), Paper and Leaf on 1.21.11 with tuned settings. Real players behave differently than bots. All stats and methodology →
